3 Months and Merry Xmas

Savita just turned 3 months on the 17th. 3 Months! I am still amazed at the speed at which she grows and learns new things everyday. She graduated to # 4 diapers today. These have Garfield on them, how cool!?

Pasport etc.

We put in the application for a pasport for Savita yesterday, that way she can travel with us when we attend the wedding of uncle Kong and aunt Sheila in March and the Aniversary of Opa and Omi in July. We think she's too young to stay home by herself yet. Her Social Security Card is on the way already, so she should be able to start working soon to pay for her trips to Texas and Holland.

For Social Security purposes our daughter is considered "Caucasian" by the way, there was no "Other", "Eurasian", "Vutch", "Vietlander", or "Nethercan" box on the paperwork. Since Thu chose Caucasian for the SS card, I think we might have gone with "Asian" on the pasport paperwork, that'll confuse them! Unbelievable though that they haven't figured something out for mixed or the more PC biracial children.

We hebben gisteren Savita's paspoort aangevraagt, dan kan ze met ons mee reizen naar Oom Kong's en Tante Sheila's trouwerij in Maart en Opa en Omi's 40 jarig huwlijks feest in Juli. We vinden haar nog te jong om alleen thuis te blijven. Haar fiscale nummer (ik weet niet meer hoe je dat ook al weer noemt in het Nederlands) is onderweg dwz dat ze binnenkort kan gaan beginnen met werken en dus haar eigen reis kan betalen naar Texas en Holland.

Volgens de Sociale Zekerheid is onze dochter trouwens "Blank", er was geen "Andere", Eurasiaat", "Vutch", "Vietlander", of "Nederkaan" vakje. Omdat Thu blank heeft gekozen voor de SZ kaart, hebben we volgens mij "Aziatisch" gekozen voor het paspoort, dat zal ze verwarren! Ongelooflijk dat ze daar nog steeds niks op hebben bedacht voor gemengde kinderen.

Update 2

We went to take Savita's picture for her passport today. Of course she didn't want to sit still for the picture, but in the end they managed to take a half decent picture. As you can tell she's growing incredibly fast, we haven't weighed her or measured her in a while, but it is clear she is eating well. She's up more during the day now and either sleeps through the night or wakes up only once. She's vocalizing a lot and she tries to and sometimes manages to copy whatever sounds you make. She can already say her mom's name: "Thu". (If you don't believe me, I will try to video it tomorrow!)


We hebben vandaag paspoort foto's voor Savita laten maken. Ze wilde natuurlijk niet stil zitten, maar uiteindelijk hebben ze toch een aardige foto van haar kunnen maken. Zoals je kunt zien groeit ze als kool. We hebben haar al een tijdje niet gewogen of gemeten, maar het is duidelijk dat ze goed eet. Ze is overdag veel op en ze slaapt nu of de hele nacht door of wordt alleen maar een keer wakker. Ze maakt enorm veel geluidjes op dit moment en ze probeert, en af en toe lukt het haar, om de geluiden te maken die je naar haar maakt. Ze kan haar moeders naam al zeggen: "Thu". (Natuurlijk geloven jullie me niet dus ik zal het morgen op de videoen!)

Opa & Omi continued

Eventhough they spend a lot of time with their new grand daughter we did manage to get them out of the house for short periods of time. Ook al wilden ze voornamelijk tijd besteden aan hun nieuwe kleindochter, we hebben het voor elkaar gekregen ze af en toe uit het huis te krijgen.
